Released in 1955 on Prestige Records, "The Musings of Miles" is the first 12-inch LP by legendary trumpeter Miles Davis. This album features Davis in an intimate quartet setting with Red Garland on piano, Oscar Pettiford on bass, and Philly Joe Jones on drums. The new 2025 edition is part of the Original Jazz Classics series, pressed on 180-gram vinyl at RTI with all-analog mastering from the original tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio, and presented in a Stoughton Tip-On jacket. This album captures Davis during the formative period of his first great quintet, offering listeners a look at his developing musical style.
