It would have been far more joyful to celebrate her April sixtieth birthday with new recordings, but fate decided otherwise. It can be assumed that around 8 April the media will focus on the painful twists of her artistic and personal life; for this date we bring a portion of the very best, musically, that Iveta left behind. In the 2LP format, it is a total of 24 tracks selected by Pavel Vaculík, one of her discoverers and the author of a number of hits, including the title track. Her extraordinary talent was noticed by many of our best popular-music composers, among them Karel Svoboda, Ladislav Štaidl, Pavel Krejča, and Ondřej Soukup. Iveta went through many stylistic changes, captured on this compilation from a gentle sixteen-year-old girl from the Beskydy through a self-assured interpreter of strong melodies, carefully following dance trends, a radiant pop princess, a reliable guardian of folk expressions, a successful reviver of older film themes, a competent performer of musical roles, and a refined, almost chanson-like singer. A unique voice, natural musicality, a likeable appearance, and often an excellent repertoire—these shared gifts granted her an interesting gift: men liked her as a pleasantly elegant woman, and their non-jealous wives liked her as a potential daughter.
