CD WOLASTOQIYIK LINTUWAKONAWA

'Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa' is the debut album by Canadian composer and tenor Jeremy Dutcher, released on October 20, 2023. This album presents unique post-classical arrangements of traditional music of the Wolastoq First Nation. Dutcher, a member of the Tobique First Nation, gained access to wax cylinders from 1907 that contained recordings of songs and stories of his ancestors. Through this work, he seeks to revive the Wolastoq language, which is spoken today by fewer than 100 people. The album is available on CD in a cardboard sleeve. This groundbreaking project evokes the operatic performances of Rufus Wainwright or the captivating pop of Anohni.
