Buddha-Bar is a bar, restaurant, and hotel franchise established in 1996 in Paris by French-Romanian restaurateur Raymond Vișan. The original venue became renowned for its eclectic selection of avant-garde music curated by DJs. Internationally, Buddha-Bar is known for its compilations of lounge, chill-out, and world music, released under the George V Records label. The first compilation was issued in 1999, and the series has continued with various producers and DJs. Buddha-Bar has become a reference point for foreign yuppies and wealthy tourists visiting Paris and has inspired numerous imitators.
