Carmen McRae

Carmen McRae was an American jazz singer and pianist, known for her smoky voice and innovative scat improvisations. Throughout her career, she recorded over 60 albums, including "Blue Moon" (1956), "Ms. Jazz" (1974), and "Carmen Sings Monk" (1990). She collaborated with notable musicians such as Dave Brubeck and George Shearing. McRae was nominated for seven Grammy Awards and received the NEA Jazz Masters award in 1994.
