Member of Chico Hamilton Quintet →|formerly Gerry Mulligan Quartet
Chico Hamilton was an American jazz drummer and bandleader who played a pivotal role in shaping the West Coast "cool jazz" style of the 1950s. During high school, he collaborated with musicians like Charles Mingus and Dexter Gordon. In 1955, he formed his own quintet with an unconventional lineup, including guitar, flute, cello, bass, and drums. Notable albums include "The Dealer" from 1966, featuring guitarist Larry Coryell's debut. Hamilton was known for nurturing young talent; musicians like Gábor Szabó and Charles Lloyd began their careers in his bands. Throughout his career, he collaborated with artists such as Lena Horne and Gerry Mulligan. The products available from the artist Chico Hamilton include vinyls.
