Colette Magny

Colette Magny was a French singer and songwriter known for her distinctive voice and politically engaged lyrics. After working as a secretary for the OECD, she began singing in Parisian clubs in the 1950s, with her first single "Melocoton" becoming a hit in 1963. Her work encompassed blues, jazz, and chanson, often setting poems by authors like Victor Hugo and Arthur Rimbaud to music. Magny was known for her political activism, supporting movements such as the Black Panthers and being active during the May 1968 events in France.
