Eugenio "Totico" Arango

Eugenio "Totico" Arango was a Cuban singer and percussionist born on June 2, 1934, in Havana. In 1959, he emigrated to the United States, becoming a significant figure in New York's rumba scene. He collaborated with artists such as Carlos "Patato" Valdés, Arsenio Rodríguez, and Israel "Cachao" López. Notable albums include "Patato y Totico" (1968) and "Totico y Sus Rumberos" (1982). Arango was known for his strong voice and contributions to popularizing Afro-Cuban music in the U.S. He passed away on January 21, 2011, in the Bronx, New York.
