Grateful Dead

Grateful Dead was an American rock band formed in 1965 in Palo Alto, California. The original lineup included Jerry Garcia (lead guitar, vocals), Bob Weir (rhythm guitar, vocals), Ron "Pigpen" McKernan (keyboards, harmonica, vocals), Phil Lesh (bass guitar, vocals), and Bill Kreutzmann (drums). Later members included Mickey Hart (drums), Tom Constanten (keyboards), Keith Godchaux (keyboards), Donna Jean Godchaux (vocals), Brent Mydland (keyboards), and Vince Welnick (keyboards). The band was known for its eclectic style, blending elements of rock, blues, jazz, folk, country, bluegrass, gospel, reggae, and psychedelia. Notable albums include "Live/Dead" (1969) and "Grateful Dead" (1971). They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2024.
