Harry Belafonte

Harry Belafonte was an American singer, actor, and activist who popularized calypso music in the 1950s. His 1956 album "Calypso" was the first LP to sell over one million copies. Among his most famous songs are "Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)", "Jump in the Line (Shake, Senora)", and "Jamaica Farewell". Belafonte was also a significant civil rights activist, closely collaborating with Martin Luther King Jr. and supporting various humanitarian initiatives.
