MDC is an American punk band formed in 1979 in Austin, Texas. Originally known as The Stains, the band later changed their name to MDC, standing for "Millions of Dead Cops". Their 1982 debut album, "Millions of Dead Cops", is considered a hardcore punk classic. Other notable albums include "Smoke Signals" (1986) and "Millions of Damn Christians" (1987). MDC is known for their radical leftist lyrics and criticism of social issues. The band collaborated with various other punk bands and was part of the San Francisco scene. After a hiatus in the 1990s, they returned to the scene in 2000 and continue to create and perform.
