Olu Dara

Olu Dara is an American cornetist, guitarist, and singer, born in 1941 in Natchez, Mississippi. After serving in the Navy, he moved to New York in 1964, collaborating with artists like David Murray and Henry Threadgill. In 1998, he released his debut album "In the World: From Natchez to New York," blending jazz, blues, and funk. His second album, "Neighborhoods," followed in 2001. Dara is also the father of rapper Nas and contributed to Nas's 1994 album "Illmatic."
