Sister Rosetta Tharpe

Sister Rosetta Tharpe was an American gospel singer, guitarist, and songwriter born in Cotton Plant, Arkansas. She was a pioneer in combining gospel music with the electric guitar, influencing the emergence of rock and roll. Her most notable songs include "Up Above My Head" and "Strange Things Happening Every Day". She collaborated with artists such as Marie Knight and Mahalia Jackson. In 2018, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for her contributions to music.
