The Smashing Pumpkins

The Smashing Pumpkins is an American alternative rock band formed in Chicago in 1988. The original lineup consisted of vocalist and guitarist Billy Corgan, guitarist James Iha, bassist D'Arcy Wretzky, and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. Their debut album, "Gish" (1991), received critical acclaim, while "Siamese Dream" (1993) and "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" (1995) solidified their popularity. The band has won two Grammy Awards for Best Hard Rock Performance. After several lineup changes and hiatuses, the current lineup includes Corgan, Iha, and Chamberlin. Their music incorporates elements of gothic rock, heavy metal, and psychedelic rock.
