Sharp Pins is the solo project of Chicago musician Kai Slater, known as the frontman of the art-punk band Lifeguard. Slater founded Sharp Pins to explore a new musical direction, distinct from Lifeguard's intense style. The debut album, "Turtle Rock," was released in 2023, followed by "Radio DDR" in 2024, which was initially released as a cassette and later expanded with three new tracks. Sharp Pins' music blends elements of indie rock, power pop, and lo-fi aesthetics, drawing inspiration from 1960s British rock and 1990s lo-fi indie. Slater is also active in the Chicago music scene through the Hallogallo zine and collaborations with bands like Dwaal Troupe and Lifeguard. The products available from the artist Sharp Pins include vinyls.
