Garbage is an American rock band formed in 1993 in Madison, Wisconsin. The members are Shirley Manson (vocals), Duke Erikson (guitar, bass, keyboards), Steve Marker (guitar, keyboards), and Butch Vig (drums). Their 1995 debut album, "Garbage," achieved double platinum certification in the US, UK, and Australia. The follow-up album, "Version 2.0" (1998), received two Grammy nominations. The band is known for their alternative rock style incorporating elements of electronic and pop music. They have released seven studio albums and won 17 awards from 57 nominations, including the MTV Europe Music Award for "Breakthrough" in 1999.
